We meet a lot of travellers here at Moon&Star guesthouse and of course we talk quite a lot. Because of former guests we know that there are many people in Ghana who would love to discover the country, but they continue to go to the tourist hotspots at the coastal areas and Mole. Most of them do visit Kumasi at some occasion, but that’s most of the time because of work or because they are passing through.
Some people say that it’s difficult to travel here, because it’s unknown they don’t know what to visit. And some say that our area is far from Accra. Is it? It’s certainly no further than Mole national park.
We have great news for all of you! We are going to make it simple to discover our area in beautiful Ashanti and it’s undiscovered places during the weekends!
Cultural weekend trip
Every first and third weekend of the month we are open for the cultural weekend trips!
You arrive on Friday by late afternoon or early evening. On Saturday we take you to a traditional shrine, on a kente and cacao tour and you will learn more about adinkra.
We will finish the day with a BBQ!
On Sunday you can visit a church service or climb the Holy mountain.
All meals and excursions are included in the price!
Nature weekend trip
Every second and last weekend of the month we are open for the nature weekend trips!
You arrive on Friday by late afternoon or early evening. On Saturday we take you to Bomfobiri nature park, where you will do the big loop. You will see so many aspects of the beautiful nature that Ghana has to offer in just one park. A picknick at the waterfalls is included.
In the afternoon you can participate in a cooking workshop of your choosing!
On Sunday we will take you on a hike to the mountain of Mercy which you will also climb.
All meals and excursions are included in the price!

For every person that books a nature or cultural weekend with us, we donate €25,00 to Banko women organization!
Frequently asked questions
I like the concept of Moon&Star's weekend trips, but I would like to come during week days. Is that possible?
We would like to use our own car during the weekend instead of local transportation. Is that possible?
Yes, of course it is. We will remove the costs of local transportation from the price and your guide will join you to the various excursions.
I see that the price for the weekends are based on a minimum of 2 people, but I would like to participate alone. Is that possible?
Of course it is! Just send a mail. Maybe you can join another group during the weekend of your choice. If you are the only participant we will adjust the price for you!
Can we also come on a weekend trip from Saturday till Monday?
This shouldn’t be a problem, unless we already have bookings from Friday till Sunday. Just send a mail, or fill it out on the booking form. I will get in touch with you!
Can you arrange airport service from Kumasi for us?
Yes, we can. Just add the details on the booking form or send a mail!
We booked and paid for the weekend, but unfortunately we can't make it. What happens now?
You can change your booking to another date within the next 2 months. If this is not possible we will reimburse 75% of your payment. So that we can still make the donation to Banko Women organization.
If you can cancel less than 48 hours in advance and cannot reschedule to a time within 2 months, we can refund 50% of the amount.
It’s a beautiful place, very cosy and gorgeous food. A perfect place to relax, explore and near a village you’ll love.

Clean place, very beautifully made rooms, simple but perfect, great staff, garden to relax, good food and perfect base to do day trips (I used to do hikes to the Holy Mountain, it’s just 2 hours & while walking you pass local villages and beautiful nature), easy to reach Kumasi (but lovely you can sleep out of the busy city and its noises). And booking a room here, you know the money is also invested in the community of Banko, which I find important. I highly recommend this place! 5 stars X 100000!
